Technology

St Thomas More’s Primary School recognises that, as 21st century learners, our students live in a changing world driven by technology. Therefore, it is vital that children are innovative, knowledgeable, literate, discerning, analytical and critical users of technology and in doing so create a positive digital footprint.

Students from Prep to Year 6 participate in weekly Digital Technology lessons with a specialist teacher. These lessons are aimed at developing skills to become effective users of Information Technologies. Students are also given opportunities to enhance and develop these skills across all Key Learning Areas.

Each of our lower school classrooms has access to a bank of iPads which students use throughout the day as part of various learning experiences. Our upper school students have shared access to year level computer banks, which are also utilised daily to enhance the teaching and learning in our classrooms.

An important component of our Digital Technology curriculum includes educating students on how to be responsible and safe digital citizens. eSafety is covered in both Digital Technology specialist lessons and as part of classroom work with the Daniel Morcombe Child Safety Curriculum.
